At SMIORE, we are committed to sustainable growth through technological excellence and responsible resource utilization. Our 0.5 MTPA state-of-the-art Vertical Non-Recovery Coke Oven plant, integrated with a 32 MW Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant, stands as a testament to this philosophy.
The Vertical Non-Recovery (VNR) Coke Oven technology represents the next generation of coke-making - designed to ensure high-quality metallurgical coke production with minimal environmental footprint. We are amongst first few in India to implement this technology. Unlike conventional by-product ovens, the VNR process ensures complete combustion of volatile matter within the oven chambers, eliminating the need for external flue gas treatment systems. The plant is fully automated, enabling precise process control, operational efficiency, and consistency in coke quality.
One of the key highlights of this facility is the 32 MW Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant, which harnesses the sensible heat from the coke oven flue gases to generate power. This clean energy generation not only reduces dependence on fossil fuels but also significantly lowers the plant’s overall carbon emissions. Through this system, SMIORE converts industrial waste heat - which would otherwise be lost to the atmosphere - into a valuable source of renewable energy.
The VNR Coke Oven design embodies SMIORE’s commitment to sustainability. The process ensures zero effluent discharge, low particulate emissions, and full utilization of process gases. The result is a truly eco-friendly coke-making process that aligns with SMIORE’s long-term vision of using green energy in process.
